We have two livelihood programmes; mainly Nairobi Walking Tours where 5 young people from the sponsorship programme have been trained in collaboration with the National Museums of Kenya on the History of Nairobi. The tours are a source of income to the young people and 100% of the profit will directly support the Mathare slum community. This year our tours where awarded with the “Sustainable Tour Operator of the Year Award” by Luxury Travel Guide Global Awards. By booking a tour with us you support a former street child on his way to become independent. To see what travelers say about us please visit our Tripadvisor listing.
The other livelihood project is for women of children that MCFp serves and for single teenage mothers below 20 years. These women are involved in the making of handbags from used tetra packs and other bags from local materials. MCFp markets the bags on behalf of the women. All profits go directly into supporting the Mathare slum community. By buying a bag from us you directly contribute to improving the livelihood of vulnerable women in Mathare slum.
